Mother Tongue Teacher/Study Guide in English

Language Center is Strängnäs Municipality's unit for mother tongue and study guidance. Language Center works with newly arrived students with a language background other than Swedish, as well as Swedish-speaking children who have attended school abroad and are to enter the educational system of Strängnäs Municipality. We see mother tongue education and study guidance as a very important part of the student's language development and goal fulfillment.

We are now looking for a mother tongue teacher/study guide in English for a part-time position during the spring term of 2026. Currently, it involves about 1.5 hours/week but can be adjusted based on needs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a mother tongue teacher in English, you are responsible for mother tongue education and study guidance in the municipality's schools. This is done in close collaboration with the students' other subject teachers and mentors at the schools, as well as through communication and cooperation with guardians. You have good collaboration skills and are clear in your communication. You can take your own initiatives and work independently. You are structured and creative in your working methods and have a desire and a great interest in helping students achieve their goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• very good knowledge, both spoken and written, in English.
• very good knowledge, both spoken and written, in Swedish.
• basic IT skills, i.e., some experience using IT as a support in work.

It is also meritorious if you have:

• a teaching degree or other academic education that the employer deems relevant for the position.
• previous experience in mother tongue education and study guidance.
• a B driver's license as the position may involve traveling between schools within the municipality.
